BIRDS

The herons at the Ballard Locks in Seattle really hooked me on bird photography. And before you could say "boo", I'd purchased a really nice lens to go with my really nice camera. I love hanging out anywhere I might see a few birds up close and personal. Ballard Locks. Union Bay Natural Area. Green Lake. Meadowbrook Pond.

At one point I thought I'd like to see all the National Parks in alphabetical order. I've been moving pretty slowly on that goal, so currently revised it to just seeing them all in any order! Maybe a couple long road trips once I've retired! Until then here are a variety of black and white photos. Some from National Parks. Some from around town. And some from who knows where else!

PHOTO TRIBUTE — THOMAS GAMBLE

Thomas Gamble was a generous, talented, lover of the outdoors with a dry sense of humor. You could find him working in his gorgeous garden or taking a walk, any day the Seattle weather would allow. He was always eager to help his family, friends or neighbors with any project where he could lend a hand. Dad was a brilliant woodworker, a talent he shared with his father and only brother. He served as a US Marine and was an anesthesiologist at Northwest Hospital in Seattle for nearly 30 years. After retiring, dad and mom continued to serve others for over 10 years by working in hospitals in Nepal, India, Thailand, Haiti and American Samoa. Many of the nurses who worked with them at McCormick Hospital in Chiang Mai Thailand, loved them as parents. He will be hugely missed by his children, grandchildren and wife of 69 years, Dorothy, along with other family and friends.
